The Edinboro University Equestrian Team was founded in the 1999-2000 school year when former member, Laura Hetz, offiically registered the team under the IHSA.  The team was led by Laura and its first advisor was Dr. Arnie White from the Phys. Ed. Dept.  The team competed in its first IHSA show in the spring semester of 2000.

During the 2000-01 school year the team rode at Stonebrook Stables in Edinboro under the coaching of Laura and Lisa.  In fall of 2001, Walter Patterson recieved title as team advisor and continued to advise the team for 11 years.

During the 2001-02 school year the team rode at Willows Equestrian Center in Fairview and was under the coaching of Halli Bidwell (currently the coach of Mercyhurst & Allegheny College).  In spring of 2002 the team again moved to a new barn, Shadow Facs Farm and was under the coaching of Debbie McCaughtry.

In 2004, the team relocated to its current barn, Brenric Stables, and hired Lew Trumble as the coach.  He has since led the team to many top 3 regional team placings as well as sending many individual team members to the regional, zone, and national levels of IHSA competitions.

In the fall of 2013, Cyndi Waldinger assumed the shared role of advisor. In fall of 2016, Dawn Dillen took over the role and is currently the team's advisor.
